Vertices -Selected of Red Dot Design Award 2018

This ring is inspired by the scaffolding that is often seen in New York City. Much like scaffolding unfolds at various angles to form a unified structure, the lively and expressive culture of New York City feels like a single thread to me. And like the city of New York, which is composed of individuals with different personalities, the bars of the ring converge at different angles, meeting at each vertex to create a variety of angles and shapes to suit the wearer's style. The ring embodies an innovative and dynamic boldness reminiscent of the diverse people and culture of New York City.

3456∞Infinity- Selected of Red Dot Design Award 2015

3456∞Infinity Pendant collection design comprises of multi-shapes of triangle, square, pentagon, hexagon and a circle. One unique feature of the design series is reflected in the methodology of wearing the pendant. For each pendant, there are four different ways of wearing; gold face with chain across the vertex, or the base; silver face with chain across the vertex or the base.   Non-vertex shape like a circle still maintains four ways, via creation of narrow and wide surface for the chain to pass through. Such diversity in how to wear and the resultant variations in shapes and texture of the pendant can offer variety in the eyes of beholder. For example, it can even be used as a mode of communication, if one chooses to wear the necklace to show one’s special mood or feelings, or to assign a symbolic meaning by wearing in a certain way for anniversary or on a special occasion. A more intimate form of communication can happen if wearers are a couple or among best friends, it creates intimate exclusiveness or symbolizes unique friendship identity. The variation medley of versatile design in one jewelry type lends these necklaces organic, lively character. Instead of passively accepting a designer-set pre-customized design, such analogue-styled wearability allows the user to take over the ‘designer’ role in creating and changing the look of the day. The beauty of this jewelry feature is thus highlighted in the paradoxical co-existence of the creative diversity in simplicity, i.e. versatile metamorphic designs using the simplistic and basic shapes, giving timeless and modern look.

Swirl- Selected of Red Dot Design Award 2015

Relationships can yield complexity and in the midst of such, it may turn into a big whirlpool of emotions. Such mixed rings of whirlpool somehow strike a resemblance to mixture and complex webs of people’s emotion tangled together. Among such, love may be the epitome of conflicting emotions, as it may take a form of restrictiveness in the name of love, yet it also allows freedom to flourish within the boundaries of love. The design feature of the Swirl Ring reflects such binding oneness by linking each washer into an non-detachable form yet a non-stop, metamorphic nature of multi-shapes when the ring is touched, worn or put on a surface. This expresses the conflicting yet harmonious emotions that love portrays, via the medium of five washers chosen, connected yet not locked, allowing unlimited display of free form. The design motive starts from the whirlpool of complex emotions of restrictive yet free love, but the final product portraying such complexity via simple language, absent of any decorative elements.

The five washers are intertwined and interlocked, yet each washer has its own life and when one wears the ring, each individual washer comes alive and take a ‘live’ form by gliding along one’s finger, going through metamorphosis to arrive at a final shape, creating a perfect and free form, befitting that one special person. It thus also offers added pleasure and unexpected fun to the wearer. The initial feel of restrictiveness is gone and a new liberated feel is here to stay. While silver may be the most common and popular material, the ring is also available in precious metals.
